Thursday October 19th, 5.30-8.30pm
We're excited to announce our first ever Zine Baby – a night for creatives of all types to come together to make, share, live and breathe everything zine. It's free to come along, but please RSVP here.
What is a zine?
A zine is an independent publication, self-published (often on a photocopier) on a topic that the creator/s are passionate about. It’s a labour of love, and it might just remind you of your undergrad glory days.
Who can make a zine?
Anyone. Everyone. If you have a story to tell in words, pictures or something in between, then zine making is for you. A zine can include illustration, photography, collage, design, writing – anything you like. You can use everything from your laptop to and old stack of magazines, scissors and glue.
What can my zine be about?
Music. Punk. Feminist theory. Baking. Short stories. Painting. Design. K-town. Skateboarding. Gender. Cats. Veganism. Meat. Art. Heartbreak. Travel. Comics…whatever you are passionate about. Want to write and self publish music reviews? Awesome. Want to print a booklet of your artwork? Go for it.
What’s this night all about?
It’s a night of DIY fun with a bunch of other creatives. You can come along to write, draw, cut, stencil, staple, read, share – whatever you like. Bring copies of your existing zines to trade, or come ready with supplies to make a new one on the night.
What should I bring?
Any supplies you need to make your zine – art stuff, writing stuff, laptop, whatever your favourite tools are. We have chairs, tables, music, nibbles and company. It's free to come along but please RSVP here.
